Sometimes Change Is Necessary

Being capable of enduring something does not mean you should have to keep enduring it. A reflection on change, boundaries, workplace fit, and permission to want something different.

Have you ever worked somewhere that slowly stopped feeling like the right place for you?

Have you ever felt yourself becoming smaller just to make it through the day?

Have you ever stayed because you needed the paycheck, valued your coworkers, feared starting over, or kept hoping things would improve?

Have you ever wondered whether wanting something different meant you were ungrateful?

Sometimes, change is necessary. That does not always mean walking away.

Sometimes change means asking the question no one else will ask. Sometimes it means setting a boundary. Sometimes it means acknowledging that your work environment is affecting your health, confidence, or sense of self.

Sometimes it means deciding that being capable of enduring something does not mean you should have to keep enduring it.

And yes, sometimes it means leaving.

Change is not always an admission that you failed. It can be an acknowledgment that you have learned, grown, or reached the end of what a particular role or environment can offer you.

The Breaking Point was written from a leadership perspective, but it is not only for executives or people with impressive titles.

It is for employees carrying more than anyone realizes. For the dependable ones who are rewarded with more work. For the people trying to succeed inside systems that are no longer healthy. For anyone wondering whether they are allowed to want something different.

You are.

Sometimes the most honest thing you can do is recognize when something needs to change.

The Breaking Point, Book One of the six-book Musings of a Recovering Executive series, is available now on Amazon.
