Experienced and Still Feeling Like an Imposter

Experience and doubt can coexist. A personal reflection on the voice that questions whether you belong, trusting your track record, and rebuilding self-trust without waiting for the doubt to disappear.

Both can be true. Two overlapping circles labeled Experienced and Still feeling like an imposter. Musings of a Recovering Executive. MusingsOfaRecoveringExecutive.com.

Both can be true.

You can have years of experience behind you and still walk into a room wondering if you belong there.

I still have those moments. I'll be prepared, I'll know my material, and a quiet voice will ask who I think I am. Experience doesn't make that voice disappear.

What I'm learning is that the voice isn't evidence. It's a feeling, and feelings aren't facts. My track record is real. So is the doubt. I don't have to wait for one to go away before I trust the other.

If you feel this too, you're in very good company.

Why this series is for you:

If you've done the work, earned the experience, and still wonder whether you really belong in the room, this series is for you. Across six books, it's about rebuilding self-trust: stepping out of performing and proving, and back into who you actually are.

When does that "do I belong here?" voice tend to show up for you?
