Recognizing Gaslighting at Work
A personal reflection on questioning your own memory at work, recognizing troubling patterns, and the steps that helped Lynn regain clarity.

You're not crazy. And you're not imagining it.
I've sat in rooms where I questioned my own memory. I'd walk out of a meeting wondering if I'd misheard, overreacted, or made the whole damn thing up.
I hadn't.
Signs you're being gaslit at work:
1. Decisions you remember clearly "never happened."
2. Feedback is vague, constant, and impossible to act on.
3. Your wins get reassigned. Your mistakes get a spotlight.
4. You're "not a team player" the minute you ask a reasonable question.
5. The rules change, but only for you.
6. You start documenting everything just so you can trust yourself.
7. Sunday nights feel like dread, not rest.
If a few of these hit home, you're not imagining it, and it's not a you problem. It's a culture problem.
And there's a way through. What helped me:
• Keep a private decision log. Date, who was there, what was decided. Your memory gets a witness.
• Find one ally you trust to reality-check with.
• Decide your exit line now: the point where you stop fixing it and start leaving.
Which one did you recognize first?
I wrote about this in Book 6, You're Not Imagining It. Link in the first comment.
